Pit Bull potty training PROBLEMS?!?!?!?
Okay, i have a pit bull puppy and he's an indoor dog. He's about 8 months old and he will not go potty outside!!! We have a mat set up that he goes to everytime he needs to go, he goes there no problem. But we're trying to get him going outside. We take him outside after meals, playing, sleep, everything! But he refuses to go potty outside. as soon as we let him back in he goes to his mat and does his buisness. It doesnt matter how long we're outside he just wont do it . Any one had this problem?? Plleeeeaaase help me!!!
First, take away the mat. You have always let him go there, so its all he knows. Once it is taken away, he'll definitely have accidents in the house. Instead of just scolding him (which you can only do if he is in the process of going... if you do it after he'll have no idea what you're talking about), take his "accident" and put it outside. Take him with you... let him see where you want his urine and feces to be. This HAS to happen every time you find and accident in your home, and he HAS to see you putting it outside.
Once he starts going outside himself, give him treats and TONS of praise immediately after. Eventually, you can bell train him. You hang a bell on the back door, and ring it every time you take him outside to go to the bathroom. Eventually, he'll ring the bell himself when he needs to go.

The Most Important Thing You Can Do To End Your Dog's Potty Training Problem
You have probably been potty training your dog for a few weeks now, months perhaps, and still she is not properly house trained. You thought you had finished training her to pee outside, when you came home one day and found she had weed on the lounge carpet. Just when you thought it was all over and you had no more potty problems with her, this happens.
How do you react. Anger, shouting? No, do not show either of these emotions. All you do is clean up the mess and carry on with the potty training. It might not be easy to do this, but it is the best way. You must be patient when potty training your dog, and be prepared for the occasional setback.
You have tried all the right things, such as crate training, putting her outside after she has had a sleep, and teaching her how to potty outside, and have still had no lasting success.
What do you do now? The most important thing is to try and communicate with your dog. Your dog cannot talk to you and it is important to remember that fact. At all times, be patient with her while she is learning the behaviour you are teaching her.
Make sure you always reward her immediately she toilets outside. This is very important because then she is in no doubt the the reward is for her toileting outside, and nothing else.
