Chihuahuas make loyal friends that love being with one or two masters. Their sometimes-frightful personalities can be as real as their diminutive sizes. They can also be excitable, and are not necessarily always good friends to bring to children. Nevertheless, a Chi can learn to adjust and blend for the long-run into any setting through the help of proper Chihuahua training and socialization.

Socializing your Chihuahua

The timeliest moment to bring a new Chi puppy into the house is when it is between 12 and 20 weeks. Once your Chi puppy is settled, the breaking-in needs to kick off, i.e. the socialization process. As stated, the dog is known for preferring the fewest masters possible, so it is important that they get the hang of living with an entire household of adults, pets, children, and even visitors.

Socializing a chihuahua, part of Chihuahua training, is by the way not as easy at it seems. Your dog will need to get used to being handled by both family and stranger alike. Habituation to handling is what will get rid of the dog's fear and prevent it from getting acting surprised, biting, baring teeth, and growling. It will also help the vet a lot when it is time to check on your pet.

Is it fine with your dog that it gets petted, and that its feet, teeth and ears are inspected? If your Chi does not mind at all, the it is possible that you allow many people to get a hold of your dog.

Having Food Taken Away

The Chi puppy with Chihuahua training must be ready for tension-inducing scenarios like another dog eating on its dish. A chi living treated this way by other animals that live with it needs to praised if it does not show aggression.

Excessive Barking

A chi that is prone to excessive barking can be another target of Chihuahua training. The dogs make good alert watch dogs, raising the alarm by barking. But the con of this pro is that they also bark for a variety of motives, e.g. they are bored, cold, lonely, or overexcited.

Your Chihuahua and the Public

Train your dog to get accustomed to hearing noise and other unusual sounds. Obviously, a chi raised in a quite house or neighborhood will find it harder to adapt to a public outing. Another thing that will hasten better socializing is to take your pet out on a leash, and welcome strangers who wish to pat it.

The Flight Of The Feral Chihuahua

$7.99

The Flight of the Feral Chihuahua is a true story about the effort, challenges, and fears behind setting a new round-trip transcontinental speed record in a small airplane. The author - a long-time pilot and accomplished skydiver - brings to the reader a vivid re-telling of modifying his home-built, experimental airplane, and then flying it 4,200 miles one winter's day across the United States and back. Challenging him along the way were hours of fatigue, deep isolation, dangerous weather, and life-threatening equipment failures. But, off-setting these challenges were months of planning, state-of-art equipment, extensive training, and the love and prayers of friends and family. No matter what the reader's background, this book will leave you with a sense "of being there" through realistic imagery and a detailed description of what the pilot saw, felt, and thought along the way.
